Happy Holidays!

Mia's about four times this size now, but it's still adorable! Hope one and all are thoroughly enjoying break... it looks like everyone but me has been reading furiously. :) I've been playing on my xbox. I'm a bad librarian! My goal is to start Analie's book today at some point.

Okay, I won't take up much more time right now, but I wanted to give you all a fresh place to post about what you're reading and whether or not you like it. Joel and Garrison, when you guys finish Ender's Game let me know, and I'll set up a final discussion post!

Merry Merry, Joy Joy!

D'awww! She's so adorable! ^ ^

I'm about half way through my book (I've been too busy doing NOTHING) and I really like it....historical fiction is definitely one of my favored genres and I really like the style of writing....very authentic.(sp) Of course, when it was written, I'm sure that that was how they talked in the more rual areas, but I still like it anyways.

Oh, by the way, Ms. Pulley, you might be interested to know that you have the CU Simulations linked wrong (it goes to Nobel games) and that missiles is spelled with an 'i'. ^ ^ Sorry I was going through the Altona games for recommendations...

You win for cutest puppy!

I finished my book from JAD, and liked it. Definitely a don't judge a book by its cover moment for me... As JAD said, It has an awful cover... I still liked it bunches and can't wait to hear more from some other people!!!

TOMORROW is Christmas Eve!
Happy Holidays!!

Hello!
I'm about a third through His Majesty's Dragon by Naomi Novik. It's so good! However, the print is small so it takes a long time to read. Not to mention it's one of those don't-distract-me-I'm-reading kinda books. Locking myself in my room proves best results. It's really good though! I love it!

And, JAD, Roshon almost always posts first. If she got excited every time it happened, she'd suffer from over-excited syndrome.

Your puppy is REALLY cute! Great picture too! I wish I could get a puppy...but Mom says I have to live on my own before then. Erg.
Merry Chirstmas!
Happy Christmas Eve Eve!

Hey!
P.S. For Christmas, will you guys pay my rent so I can get a cute puppy? Please?

Roshon said...

Eh, what is that supposed to mean, Joel?

I finished my book this morning...very nice. I love most historical fiction, and I never realized that the author was the 'main character' in the story until this morning, haha.

Oh! So that's what Joel was talking about! Hmph! No! (coughIjustthinkitsratherstupidcough) Much less, I waste half of my life in front of the computer anyways, so I check this blog along with Bokutachi, dA, and ChickenSmoothie.

Eh, me either, Joel. I haven't even started Paradise Lost, much less The Alchemist. And I suspect that I'll need some time on those guys...I did finish Dragon's Keep though, and A Day No Pigs Would Die...but my heavier books I haven't even gotten to yet.

Aw, poor Rachael. :(

I hope you guys had a fantastic Christmas! ^ ^ Happy Kawnzaa and Boxing Day tomorrow!

Let's just say sympathy won't pay my rent to get a puppy.
I'm still enjoying my book. I like how it's almost fantasy mixed with historical fiction, though calling it historical fiction is a bit of a stretch.
Merry Christmas!

Okay, I really can't expect you guys to pay my rent. :(
good thing book nerds are too smart for that.
Love you all!!!!

Hey guys,

Sorry I haven't been posting. But scrolling through your old posts makes it clear to me that you've been reading Ender's Game! GREAT choice. (As for me, I lost my copy when I lent it to someone. He's in college now, so I suppose I've lost all chances of recovering it. XD)

I'm supposed to be reading Hunger Games and Alice in Wonderland over break. Our club definitely went in this sci-fi/fantasy direction from last year. I have not those books yet, and I'm trying to catch up with the last two (Wicked and Good Omens, which is hilarious).

I like this 'book exchange' thing. I might steal that idea for my book club.

Anyway, Happy New Year!

PS - akbarcute puppy! When did you get her?

nathan said...

You are free to use my Book exchange idea!

I enjoy the praise! And... I have always meant to read alice and wonderland. It facisnates me, stories with weird backstories hidden in them. For example, The Wizzard of Oz, is all political story. This is seen on my hyperlink. Check it out, it is remotely interesting, but a bit boreing to say the least!

Hmm, don't sound too smug there, Nathan. I love books that I learn stuff from. As I've said; 'I don't need Google! I have books!'

Analie

(Nice to hear from you again, Everchanging. ^ ^)

Last day of break! (teartearjoyjoy) *sigh* Unfortunatly, I never got to rereading my book...but I did reread Harry Potter 5! (And I still haven't finished Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, whoops)

Anyways, I hope you all had a wonderful break and read through your books! ;) Hope you had a nice time on your vacations, Ms. Pulley!

Looking forward to seeing you all when we get back tomorrow...

p.s. anyone know when the next meeting might be?

Nathan, I did not read I.Q., I'm sorry. You can suffocate me in your homemade sweatshirt if you want to.

I don't think it'll be this Friday, because the eight graders are going to that Silver Creek thing, unfortunatly. :| (Well, I don't know if it's during lunch, but)

Sorry I havn't been on the blog for a while! I've had a very busy break! Anyway, Sabriel was really good. I'm kinda used to the traditional magic books but this put a whole new twist on magic! Thanks for the book Rachel!!!!

JAD said...

Well im kinda dissapointed about myself because i did not read much this break... :(. I did read most of the Greek Mythology book though!!! I do plan on reading a lot of books before this school year ends though!!!! First on my list finishing Into the Wild then comes Graceling!!!! So you guys some other day!!!!8)

~Joel
Into the Wild as in Erin Hunter's Warriors series?! Yay! I love that series! (Okay, lie; I love the original series) Of course, if you don't mean the cat book series, (as I am sure there are numerous 'Into the Wild' books), tell me about it!

As for myself, I just finished re-reading The Alchemist, by Paul Coelho. I'm very happy that I reread it, and I picked up many more topics of interest in reading it this time since 6th grade, haha. I'm thinking about writing down some thoughts on some of the themes in the book, and if I do, I'll share them if you're all interested....

Kaari said...

Ooo, I am reading the Warriors series and it's really good but there are a lot of books, more than 20, and still more to come. I really hope you enjoy them Joel!

JAD said...

Well it's not the warriors series its actullaly the book about the man that goes into the wild and nobody knew who he was and it is an actual real non-fiction book and it was turned into a movie i believe. The Warriors series sounds interesting though....i might read it later!! Thanx for giving me an idea!!!

Rachael said...

Even though the warriors series was a misunderstanding, I'll continue that topic. Those books are really good. However, after a while they start branching off so much at a time and it gets a little confusing. This might have to do with the fact that the name Erin Hunter is a pseudonym for three separate authors working together. Who knows. At about the third group the released I got really confused.
-Rachael

Roshon said...

Yes, Erin Hunter is three women. :) A very interesting idea, I think personally. ^ ^ Like Rachael said, you might get a little confused if you start out of chronological order, as they make quite a few referances...ahem, but it won't be as bad if you start at the beginning of a set, instead or the middle of one. Since each one really starts a new generation, it's not too bad, but having a background knowledge on the events is good. ;)

Hmmm, sensless rambling on my part...sorry. ;) Anyways, I dropped the Warriors series around the end of the third set, for personal reasons *sniff*, but I've stopped looking at the new books now in realization that the old days ain't coming back.*sigh*

~Analie

By the way, if we have a meeting this week, I might be gone...depends if my mom's serious about getting my passport renewed.

JAD said...

Does anyone know if were having a meeting tommorrow??? Well news about the book list...i have to stop reading all books and start reading two books for King Arthur for a project were doing in language arts. If we do have a meeting tommorrow see you there!!!! We should also start thinking about a new book for the club since ive finished Enders game a while ago, but i was wating for Garrison. See you guys tommorrow, maybe.

Roshon said...

Hmm, we got off topic there, sorry Ms. Pulley! ^^;

But I don't think I'll be there tomorrow...my mom's taking me out for passport pictures...blach. :\ My photo's downright embarrassing...*cough*

Garrison said...

Rachael said...

I'll continue being off topic. Roshon did they make you not smile in your picture? They wouldn't let me. Erg. I hope I can fink a copy of Funerals are Fatal otherwise I will have to pick a more well-known book....

Roshon said...

No, but I chose not to smile anyways. ;)

And I thought I had a copy of Halloween Party(it's spelled differently, but I forgot her spelling. T.T), but I'm having a hard time finding it...
