New Page Goal!

All right, Bookies-- let's read to page 86, stopping at chapter 8, "Why Grandmother Stormed Out." I know that seems like a lot, but honestly, I think you'll fly through this section since the story really picks up.

I asked those in attendance at the book club meeting to do some research now that we know that "The Fury" is The Fuhrer (Hitler) and "Out-With" is actually Auschwitz (most infamous death camp). It's time to gather a little knowledge about them. 6th graders in particular-- I want you to have a parent help you with this research! Over 1 million people died there (yes, well over 1 million), in unimaginably horrible ways, and you need an adult to walk you through this. I think I still need an adult to walk me through it when I start thinking about it! So please, get help with this research assignment.

We have books in the library too-- just ask.

Discussion questions coming soon...

On pg 71 it says Bruno is very cold and wanted to put a jumper on. Does that mean a dress? What do you guys think?

I finished the page goal!!!!!!

Hey Emily, incredulous means to be skeptical, which means one who is critical or doubting.

And also Emily the word "jumper", i think means maybe a sleeveless one piece dress. Maybe like a sleep gown?

Guys, a jumper is the British word for sweater.

A jumper can be, a sleeveless one piece dress, or a Britsh word for sweater. But in this context it is most likely a sweater.

I like that this story is told from the perspective of a 9 year old. I am enjoying the relationships between the Bruno and his sister. I am also starting to wonder about the differences in opinion between the father and the mother. The father doesn't seem to think of the prisoners as people but maybe the mom does? I will have to read on to find out.

I read the book to page.......I dont know exatly............but about half of our page goal, the book is really interesting and I could tell how Bruno felt when he moved into his new home.Bruno still thinks that his dad is wrong, and he talks to Maria about it.That is all I got to, but it is so hard to stop reading!!!!!!!!!!
