Bookies-- We Have a New Selection!

Our new read is one of my longtime favorite fantasy novels-- The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley. It's a 6.1 book level in AR, so it's no easy read; feel free to ask questions here!

We can't meet next Thursday (Mr. Custis is going to ROME, ITALY and I'll be having eye surgery-- gulp), so our reading goal for the following Thursday, November 17th is to read to page 74, chapter six. We'll talk here on the blog until then.

Come to the library to check out your copies ASAP!

Hey I love this new book so far, but I do have one question on page 3 they say the word blueblood what does that mean?

Mrs. P said...

Great question! Blue bloods are people of noble or aristocratic birth. So when McKinley says that Harry Crewe is "a penniless blue blood," she is saying that Harry, while having a name associated with aristocracy, doesn't have any money.

Keep the questions coming!

THIS BOOK HAS SO MUCH TALKING IT FELLS LIKE, why is this??? Is it because they need to get a lot of information out in the first chapter.

All right, 6th graders-- how are we feeling about this choice? I told you that it was going to be a high reading level... Vote here and vote now! You guys want a different book, or are you okay reading this one?
Jacob-- I have your bookmark that was in Sleepy Hollow. Come get it off my desk!

I do think we should have a different book it is hard to comprehend.

Ah crud, I just saw Mackenzie's comment about not being able to attend tomorrow. Who else won't be able to make it tomorrow? If we need to cancel until after break, we can do that. Discussion questions are posted, so we can always chat here until December! Let me know.
