March Book Club Choice

This is a simple post. What should we read together next? We had talked about reading a classic, and I suggested that you guys talk with your parents about what their favorite reads were when they were your age... Did anyone come up with anything? Do we still want to pursue a classic? I like the idea, but if someone feels strongly about a different genre, I'm willing to listen!

Though I'm not in a book club, I might have a few suggestions...I don't know what will work since I don't know how you guys discuss it, but here they are:

Little Women is a good suggestion. I read it a few months ago (and the first time I read it, I was in 5th grade) and I thought that it was a little lengthy, but the chapters are in a story-by-story format, and it's definitely age-appropriate.

The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien--just because some people might not have read them.

White Fang/Call of the Wild by Jack London: because adventure stories about dogs are always cool.

Anything by Ray Bradbury would probably be great (though I haven't actually read them) and I'm sure you can make a lively discussion out of To Kill a Mockingbird. Other authors also include Verne, Mark Twain, and H.G. Wells. I haven't read those, so I can't give you feedback, but I hope I've given you some ideas...

Wow, some really great options posted so far...I'm excited to see some stuff I have wanted to read and some of my all-time faves on these lists! Shall I wait for some other Bookies to post before I give my opinion? It's difficult, but I shall. Except I'll say this (I almost kept my mouth shut--almost!): To Kill a Mockingbird is my all-time favorite novel, and I would love for you guys to read it. But I am open to whatever, so we'll see what happens!

Oooh! I like this post!
I personally am a fan of Nancy Drew. Any classic is pretty good with me...

I haven't read How to Kill a Mockingbird, or A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, but I've heard they're good. And the one on Jamias list "All of the Above" sounds interesting...so many books so little time!

Wow...we do a lot of Oohs, haha. I'm pretty good with any genre, so...

I agree with Analie. I will probably like any genre or any book in that condition.

I belive we should bust a move fast because CSAP is coming really fast and then Spring break.

Ugh...CSAP....Well, I've been stocking up on large books for our CSAP days, so, yay! :D I have Watership Down (classic fiction) and Runemarks, which Denis suggested, can't wait to read them!

Analie

Are we going to do Book Club over CSAP?

I've been asking around again and my mom recommended Weathering Heights and The Great Gatsby. She also mentioned To Kill a Mockingbird, which seems to be well known and popular. These are books she read when she was our age and she said she really enjoyed it.
