Half-Blood Prince-- The Movie!

So I saw this on Wednesday, and I would love to know what you guys think of it! Did you read the book? Did you read the book recently? What did you think of the adaptation? Did you like the ending? Finally, taking all things into consideration, if you were to assign a letter grade, what would you give it?

Discuss! I'll jump in soon.

(This post is extremely long, I apologize ahead of time)

Hey Mrs. Pulley!

Unfortunately, I haven't seen the movie yet, but I hear that it is really good! (from reviews and reliable sources from my friends! ^ ^) I'm interested to see it, because the 6th book was definitely not my favorite book of the series......I mean, I still liked it, but I didn't love it......

And I have to admit, I was a little skeptical about the movie because I REALLY didn't like the last one (The Order of the Phoenix). (well, scratch that, I would have liked it if I hadn't read the book, but.....I had read the book, and it had happened to be one of my favorites...... :/) I hear the movie is pretty funny :) Let's see... Denis said that it had some amazing scenes/animations in it (he also said that Lavender Brown is a creepy stalker.....hm...)and a fellow Warriors fan friend of mine said that it was pretty funny in some parts!

Let's see.....I'm trying to remember what else you asked.......oh yeah, were you talking about a grade letter for the book or the movie? (I'm presuming movie...) My mom and I might see it either this weekend or after we get back from Connecticut......I'm presuming that it will still be in theaters....

And I've heard that they are coming out with a movie for that, but I havne't seen the trailer yet...I'll to search now.......but I did see that they are making an Avatar: The Last Airbender movie which I'm excited to see (from the same person of The Village and Signs! Interesting...), if there are any Avatar fans within us!

Man, I can't believe it is almost the end of summer......augh....stupid mathpacket.........*grumblegrumblegrumble* I look forward to seeing everyone for Inkheart!

Ciao!

I hope it's as good as it looks, because I loved that book.......haha, I had to take a double take, because I thought the yellow boat was a banana! (I'm still not sure...o.O) And it's also being produced by Tom Hanks!!! Wheeeee!!!!!!!!!!

Er......*cough* That's all I have to say....

Wheeeee! I just saw HarryPotter and it was great! It definitely exceded my expectations!Excellent excellent! *coughlavenderkindofscaredmecough* And I was also elated to see that they are making a movie out of my most favorite picture book(well, one of them) of all time, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs! I'm eager to see how they translated it from the book!!

(Sorry Mrs. Pulley, I'm kind of spamming the Movie board at this point....)

I really love the song that they did song that they did for the trailer! I have it on my iPod, haha :) It's Wake Up by Arcade Fire...hurrhurr, a baroque band, how cool is that! (forgive me on spelling, not using referances....)

And what part of the LavenderBrown thingy? She was just generally.....weird/creepy/insane/phycotic/insane

See! Some one agrees with me! (Hurr...I hope Mr. Mehsling doesn't read this.......)

Hey People!
Sorry, Rae has not been on for a while. He he! My bad. I've been busy with my 4-H projects...

Anyway, I saw the Harry Potter movie, and overall I'd give it a B++. It was a good movie, but I was a tad disappointed because this book was one of my favorites. I'm rereading the book now as well.

I think the movie had too much "Ron+Lavender" and not enough about horcruxes. They should've taken out some of the love scenes and add some horcrux explanations. The general consensus that I have gotten is that if you haven't read the books you loved it and if you have it was okay.

I also think it was creepy that Malfoy wore a suit during the whole movie instead of robes. I don't know why, but it creeped me out.

So,thats some of my thoughts on it. And the "Where the Wild Things Are" trailer did look very good.

P.S. Daniel Radcliff turned 20 two days ago. I just so happened to read the celebrity birthday part of the paper that day. Kind of funny considering he is supposed to be 17 in the movie!

Rachael,

Haha, I know what you mean, and I think the actor for Ron is like 25 or something...All I know is that he is older than Daniel.......*.*

Interesting. Have you seen the first one recently? (I needed something to do while I worked on my quilt wall hanging) Hermione looks SO young! Its pretty funny.

blue wolves and mushrooms said...

Rachael,

I haven't watched the first movie in a while, but I can imagine, haha! I still remember how frizzy her hair was!

Analie

Rachael said...

Yeah! Her hair was so uncontrolled! Ron wasn't too fond of her either! Look at how far they've come! Aww........!

Rachael,

*laughs* Yes indeed!

Whats your favorite character (Besides Harry)?
I like Ginny, Hermione, Luna, and I felt so sorry for Draco in the movie. I don't know why.
-Rae

blue wolves and mushrooms said...

Rachael,

Hurr.....my favorites would have to be Hermione, Prof. Mcgonical (spelling?), Luna, and Snap.......:) And I understand what you mean about Draco......I too feel that way, same with my mom........it's just that he's so young and.....I don't know, like not ready or something...and to see him being pushed through that is kind of sad....

Rachael said...

Yeah. I like Magonagal (I also am guessing the spelling). I have mixed emotions about Snape. Like, I like what he ends up doing for Dumbledore all these years, but I hate that he held his grudge against James for Harry, even though Harry isn't actually that much like his father in the prankster way. I really didn't like that.

And Draco, well, he seemed strained to do what he was doing, scared, slightly confused, and just too...too unMalfoy? He seemed so...strange I guess. I felt sorry for him.

And, I'm rereading the book, and I realized somehting. The movie didn't mention once about Aparration. Hello! Those had some really funny parts! Like Ron failing his test by half and eyebrow? Hello!?!!?
And Harry serving detention for Snape during the game? Not even mentioned.
But Apparation is huge for 6th years! Not even mentioned? Seriously?

You guys are cracking me up. :)

Analie, I've been listening to Arcade Fire for years, so I well appreciate them being used in the trailer. And it's nice to know that there is hope for your generation musically! :)

All right, guys, a post coming soon about an Inkheart screening at the school... I'm thinking the Friday before school week (8/14). What do you think?

Mrs. P said...

Oh, and the teacher's name is McGonagall; I used this fancy computer thing to look it up! (Sarcasm, yessss...)

Don't you love us Mrs. P?
Yeah, overall it was a good movie, it's just that I felt they took more out than neccessary. I would have made top 5 list:
1. Horcruxes

2. Malfoy (interchangeable with #1)

3. Apparation

4. Quiddatch (or however you spell it.)

5. Ron and Lavender, Ron and Ginny

It was way too focused on #5, and #2. A little on #1....ergivating! And yes, it's not a word, so HA! ERGIVATING!
-Rae!

He he! I don't mean Ron and Ginny, I meant Harry. Typing a little too fast!

(prewarning, long post)

Niyah! I'm back from Connecticut! ^ ^ Ahh...to catch up on a few posts.....

(Rachael)/I have mixed emotions on Snape.//

Yeah, I know, but I love how she's evolved his character and let's face it; sometimes the darkside is better.......O.O

(Rachael)/The movie didn't once mention about Apparration!//

Oh yeah......didn't they make like one referance and that's it, or is my memory failing me? {again}

(Mrs. Pulley)/You guys are cracking me up :)//

Ahhh, it's our job! XD

(Mrs. Pulley)/Analie, I've been listening to Arcade Fire for years, so I well appreciate them being used in the trailer. And it's nice to know that there is hope for your generation musically! :)//

What is that supposed to mean?!?!?! Haha, but actually, I kind of agree with what you mean.......nahhhhhh...if only my generation would listen to more classical music! ^ ^ {me's a geeky orchy dork with classical music, and science podcasts from NPR on her iPod XP} Hurr...I could be a lot worse.....I just came back from a plane ride with my little cousin's bible songs stuck in my head....blach!!!! Happy happy Analie :/

(Mrs. Pulley)/I'm thinking the Friday before school week (8/14).//

I think that's fine with me! :)

And I do agree that they should have explained the hocruxes more.......they are very important.......

I personally thought that the movie was good by itself... it didn't follow the movie as well as i think they could have done. I mean in the book the Weasly's house never actually caught on fire in the book when the death eaters invaded. It was a good movie if you aren't comparing it to the book.

blue wolves and mushrooms said...

Hey Rawan (or is it Kate...?)

Oh good, I thought that the house didn't catch fire, but...... :)

I missed the fight scene at the end of the book! I, personally, don't think that any of the extraordinary teachers at Hogwarts would have just let the Deatheaters just stroll out of the school after their dastardly deed (trying to not spoil the ending in case someone isn't aware).

lol Mrs. P! fancy computer thing! love it! see you guys soon. and what was that about our generation musicaly?!
*stamers* the preceding generation is the one that invented rap and baddly done rock...not to be icky or unlikeable...well anywoo... see you guy on the big day...later!

*laughs* Oh Nathan.... *rolls eyes* anyways, did we set a date for the showing...? If we didn't, I might be at Altona in the morning, if that helps anything....
