Summertime Talk! Post II

The old post was getting full and not in prime position, so I decided to open another one for any chatting. I hope you guys are fully enjoying your days right now; I know I am! Anything going on you'd like to share? Any good books you've read? I just finished Dairy Queen which I really, really enjoyed-- I need to get up to the library to pick up the sequel.

Anyway, Happy Hot Days-- they're right around the corner!

Hey Analie!
Thanks for all of the book titles. I personally am going to read some adult stuff for a while, I think, before I go back to YA. I am reading James Blake's autobiography right now (he's a tennis player), and I am finally going to get around to reading Kite Rider and maybe the sequel as well before I consider rereading the Harry Potter books one last time and the Twilight books before Breaking Dawn is released. It's tradition!

FYI, the custodians were probably in the process of washing the carpets in the library when you saw the lights on; I know they have been giving it a good clean. It needed it! But thanks for the help offer, and I may take you up on that in August if you're still around. You can help me adjust the shelves since all the 5th grade collection books have been packed up and shipped to Blue Mountain-- if you want to. :)

Gotta run!

hi mrs. Pulley!

i'd love to! if it gets me out of my mom nagging me about inviting friends over! have you ever read The Life of Pi? it's adultish! mom said it was good. did you have a good summer solstice? the longest day of the year only comes around once a year! i need to read Eclipes before Breaking Dawn comes out, i'm behind! don't really have any new books to read, suggestions? actually, i was about to order abunch of books on amazon *they had good deals, you know, $.1 books and all, plus a good deal on the bon appetit cookbook...*. so my mom helps me order, and i end up spending 15 $ worth of books for about 20-30 books. good deal, right? well, next thing i know, i'm spending over 71$ on shipping and handling! i know with the rising airfares and whatsnot, but really! pah! that's pathetic! so here i am, with nothing but books to reread, *which i dont mind* half bored and spuzzled out on my dream of quality cooking for the summer *due to the hot oven*. hope your having a good summer!

ciao!

mrs. Pulley,

i just saw the City of Ember trailer. hmmm...i can't really say that it looks very promising to me. i disliked the trailer alot, personally. those moments when the music stoped and the actors paused, i thought those were terrible. i usually see those moments when something funny is happening. the mayor looked strangely familiar...

with low expections,

Hi Analie,
Sorry it takes me so long to respond; I've got a lot going on this summer! In answer to your question(s), yes, I have read Life of Pi. It took me a while to get into it-- I thought the beginning was pretty dry-- but about 70ish pages in I really got hooked. We've got it in our library as well!

Yes, the 5th grade books were paid for with money for Blue Mountain, so they have to follow the kiddos over to the new school. I'll post and let you know if I go in early to move stuff around. You never know... I may blow it off and enjoy my waning days of summer instead. :)

I just finished reading The Kite Runner. It was a very tense and mostly sad read. It's in our library with a YA sticker and really, it should be 8th grade only, I think. There's some mature content in this one. It is a fascinating book, however, about life in Afghanistan in the last 30 years. Considering it is back in the news for the activities of the Taliban, again, I am awfully glad I read it. Now I think that, outside of the professional reading I have to do for my class, I'll reread Harry Potter for old-times sake.

Hope everyone is doing well...
:)

hey, Mrs. Pulley,

no problem on the replies. it's understandable. sigh, but then, i guess if books are moving out for the new school, i guess that means that we have more room for other books now! my mom read The Kite Runner, she said it was tense. i'm not sure what i'll read next, i'm almost done with The Lake House. although, i think i'm going to reread the Narnia Chronicals again, expecially during our trip to the Maroon Bells this week. what are you doing/did for the 4th? i still have to read Eclipes, but i have to find a copy. my current wish is for us to have a gigantic snow/rain storm so it will be cool enough that i can bake. expecially if i get Alton Brown's baking book, i need to work on my cake piping skills...

ciao!

Mrs. P, Bloodhound: Legend of Beka Cooper #2 is actually out on April 28, 2009 not April 28, 2008

Mrs. P said...

And you would be correct, Anonymous! I guess I saw what I expected to see, but Pierce must be working on something else in between Terrier books. I'll change that now-- Thanks for letting me know!

hey, Mrs. Pulley,

i just came back *litterally, like 5 min. ago* from our trip to the Maroon Bells/GlenwoodSprings. the trip was great, but the hotel *Hotel Colorado* was very hot since it is very old, something like the 18's. Teddy Rossevelt stayed there, and Molly Brown! but, no air conditioning. i rerereread Chasing Veemer, and amazingly, i was imidiatly hooked on it. i finnished it coming back, and i look forward to the sequal and third book.

Welcome back, Analie! So you've read The Wright 3 then, as well? Did you like that one? Do you know when the third one comes out?

I'm reading an adult novel now that Mr. Thibault recommended, then I need to read a book for my adult book club, The Glass Castle, and then I have to get ready for Breaking Dawn to come out. :) Very exciting!

Hope all is well--
:)

Has anyone here read the 'Once Upon a Time' series? It's all folk and fairy tales, reimagined by various authors. I'm pretty sure the Altona library has Snow by Tracy Lynn. I heavily recommend the series, especially if you like seeing old stories made new again.

kira,

personally, i have never heard of that paticualar series before. i'll have to look in to it.

nathan,

haha! kudos to the trailer! *kudos really means praise/glory/ect..., but i use it as "same"* the trailer was really horrible, i thought! but like you, i will be seeing the movie, no matter how much the trailer tainted it. December? that'll be a bit of a wait. did you ever see the indian in the cupboard movie? did you like it compard to the book? *if you read the book* i didn't like the movie, i thought it veered from the book on some parts, if they had made the sequeals to the book. are you ever going to update your site?
