The 39 Clues Is Here!
Hiya Rattlers!
You may have noticed that I've been MIA (missing in action) some this week; well, it was all for a good cause. I got to meet Mr. Rick Riordan, author of The Lightning Thief and the first book in The 39 Clues series, .A Maze of Bones. This is an ambitious undertaking by the publishing company Scholastic. They had Riordan write the first book and the series outline, but nine other authors will be continuing the story. Are you ready for the coolest part? Gordan Korman, the author that will be visiting us in mid-December, is the author of the second book in the series, and it will be published on 12/2! This is amazing luck for us; we will have a first-rate author here plugging a brand-new book! I am very excited. Okay, click here to join in The 39 Clues hunt, and click here to find out about Gordan Korman's 39 Clues book, One False Note.
There are flyers in the library detailing how The 39 Clues works, but it is a multimedia series combining reading the books, and online game and collectible cards that all provide clues that could lead to prizes! Check out the flyer when you're in the library. Oh, and the books are HERE AND READY TO GO! Check out your copy today, but please remember to put all six clue cards back in the book before you return it. Thanks!
That's it for today, but that's a lot, isn't it?

So Much Going On!
Hi Rattler Readers!
Sorry I haven't posted in a while, but getting the library up and running and training our small army of parent volunteers has kept me busy lately.
There's a lot to discuss! #1 is the upcoming, right-around-the-corner release of Brisingr, the third (BUT NOT LAST) release in the Inheritance series, following Eragon and Eldest. Have you read this books? Are you excited?!! I need to go back and reread the first two because it's been a while. If you're interested in joining me, look for the Inheritance display on the north wall of the library and check a copy out!
#2 is a Twilight update. The movie has been moved up; the release date is now right around Thanksgiving! Did you guys know that? And speaking of, did we like Breaking Dawn? What did we think? I'm curious to know where you guys are on this one... I have mixed emotions, myself.
#3 is our author visit in December! Gordon Korman, author of Swindle, Schooled, No More Dead Dogs, the Everest, Island, and Dive series among others will be coming to Altona to speak to the grade levels. I am very excited about Altona's first-ever author visit! I'm thinking maybe we should set up book clubs and read his books to get prepared. For those of you who haven't read his stuff, he is a fun-- and funny-- author.
I think that's it for now. Comment away, people! Let's get this blog rolling again!
