Bookies-- The Book Thief it is!

This will be our next book, if that's okay with you guys! It's a little bit fantasy, a little bit historical fiction, and a little bit realistic fiction (when Death isn't making a personal appearance as the narrator), so hopefully it will be a lot bit satisfying! I'm ILLing copies right now from other schools.

And, FINALLY, I have gotten Inkheart for us to watch if you guys are still interested. We could watch it in the library during 8th grade lunch (I'll spring you youngsters out of SSR)... so who's still interested?

Show of hands, please! Let me know:
1. If you're in for The Book Thief
2. If you're in for watching Inkheart

I have a copy of that book, Mrs. Pulley. :) And I've been wanting to read it, but I must warn you, that I am pretty immersed in reading Dune, so I might be a little slow on catch up....^ ^

I'm still up for it! Actually, I have already seen the movie, but I'm happy to watch it again. :)

Also, isn't that a little...prejudice?

I don't think The Book Theif is fantasy....if I remember right, it's set in Germany (?) and it's about a girl who steals books to read because something is/happens to the books....(I want to say burned, but I think that is China's book history....)

Hey guys,

I was just on IMDb.com and discovered that Yes, they are making a movie based on this book. Of course they are! :)

That's odd-- my other post didn't show up. I had responded to Analie saying this book wasn't fantasy-- I agree that that most of it is very realistic indeed, but that the fact that Death is a character/narrator in the story is rather fantastic. I think. :) That's really the only component that lends itself toward the fantasy genre; otherwise, it's very much historical fiction.

I very approve of your book choice for the month. :) It's definitely one of my favorite books in the world.... fingers crossed for a movie version soon! (since half the books that are opted for movies aren't made...like A Great and Terrible Beauty...)

I think I've mentioned this before, but we're doing Pride & Prejudice & Zombies for our book club. Ninjas pwn. that's all I have to say.
