Hot Chocolate and Books!
Two of my favorite things, especially when enjoyed together-- hot chocolate and a good book! All right, Rattlers, I'm going to be out of the loop this weekend because my sister is coming in town and we're going to see Spamalot Saturday (any Monty Python fans out there, BTW?) and get in as much fall colors viewing and shopping that we can. Therefore, I set up this post so you guys could chat about whatever you're reading RIGHT NOW or make RECOMMENDATIONS to your peers (and to me!) about your FAVS. I'll obviously check email and make sure your stuff gets posted, and I'll comment if I have time. Discuss, people, and have a most excellent weekend!
:)

is that the front cover? oh um well it should be in the library right? well reply soon someone.
I'm reading a lot of books right now, but the more markable ones are Dune, Mists of Avalon, and Queen of Sorcery (by David Eddings).
And you're quite right--nothing goes together better than a snowy evening, hot chocolate, and a book. :)
Hi one4two1three3two6two1one3two9,
"If I have a Wicked Stepmother, Where Is my Prince?" is labeled YA (for young adult) in our library. The reviews that I read before purchasing this book recommended it for either ages 12 and up or 8th grade an up. Do you disagree with them? Should it be for older kiddos based on the language? I would love to hear what you have to say, and I am sorry that you were disappointed in the book when you purchased it!

Hot chocolate on a snowy evening, and a book. Sounds great!!!
sounds like a great book, somrtime before or after winter break, i'm going to check it out!!!
i'm not a great fan of hot chocolate but i am a fan of books. a snowy evening and a book not the kind of picture in my head though. i'd rather get fristbite on that day!
I hear you on that one too, Link-- I love to play in the snow, though not usually in the evening. That's for books and cocoa. :)
So what's everyone reading now? I'm reading The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie; he's also written lots of adult books that I've really enjoyed, and this is his first YA novel. It's gotten tons of praise, so I was excited to start it. So far, it's quite good, but there is a lot of bad language in it that backs up the YA status. Not for those of the younger set, for sure!
I'll keep you posted on what I think of it. So far, it seems like an award-winner!

idk what i'm reading i finnished all my planned books so its boring in the house most of the time.
hiya this is nathan again
i would just like to say that i just saw the seeker, a movie in theaters a couple days ago. i know that this has nothing to do with this blog but heres my connection to it, it inspired me to read the book, what a first, you see usualy i can actualy read books before they are movies AKA:seiries of unfortunate events, harry potter, win-dixie even chronicals of narnia, and i will definitly be reading "the rising of the dark," which i am pleased to say i found a copy of in the altona library, Well after all the eragon/eldest thing im doing now
I love your comment, Nathan!
That's EXACTLY what this post is for-- a miscellaneous place for us to converse about books (and movies! and movies about books! :) ). Keep it up.
I'll be interested to hear what you think of The Seeker (movie) vs. The Dark Is Rising (book). I heard an article on NPR about this very subject, and it sounds like they changed a great deal of the story while making the movie; the author was not consulted at all. The movie was updated and Americanized, so I'm betting that, if you give it 50 pages or so, you'll probably end up liking the book version better.
Thanks for the comment, and keep us posted on what you think of the book!

Hey mrs. P! See, this is again about, "I have a wicked stepmother, where's my prince?"
I read the book at when I was 12. I say it was for more 14 year olds, at the least. I agree with the 8th grade part though. I loved the plotline, that part is excelent!
one4two1three3two6two1one3two9.
P.S. I didnt have to pay full price for the book, though, since I got it at a thrift store!
That seems like fun! Hot chocolate and a book great way to have fun!!
Hi one4two1three3two2two1one3two9,
Good to hear from you again! I'm glad you approve of the labeling of If I Have a Wicked Stepmother... in our library. That makes me feel better! Maybe you could take your copy back to either a thrift store or a used book store and recoup some of your money. Goodness knows I've done that many times!
So what are you reading now?
:)

I love hot coco and books. every christmas, my mom would read "Polar Express" and "The Night Before Christmas" and before she would do that, I would make my world famous, Vanella Coco and marshmellows. I make just enough for everyone to have one cup because if you hane to much, you will get sick. Even people across the street can smell the hot coco! Anyway, hot coco, a snoey evening (or Christmas), and a good book, (even if its for two year olds) is a great way to pass time or just to have a good time!
Hey Mrs. P!
is there a reason that "hot chocolate and books" not on the front page? I have always liked it. By the way, I also really liked a book called,"Molly Moon, Micky Minus, and the Mind Machine" Talk about alitteration! It is a great book, but since it is fourth in the series, before reading, read 1,2,and 3, otherwise I GARENTEE (sorry about spelling) it will NOT make ANY sense.
Hi Raerae135!
I hear your request for a Hot Chocolate post again, so I'll add one. Would you be willing to re-post this about Molly Moon there? That would be excellent!
:)
