Caitl...Hey guys,

Analie, I was at a funeral Friday. Caitlin Epple, the girl who died in the car wreck last weekend, was one of my all-time favorite students. I've been absolutely devastated by her passing; if you had asked before, I would have told you that she would change the world. She is a big loss to us all. It was a very positive and uplifting funeral, though, and I am glad I attended. The sun is out today, right? :)

There are only going to be 10 books in the 39 Clues series, so I don't think you'll be anywhere near 22 when this wraps up. :) They're thinking four a year, so...

Book club, hunh. El Patron raised Matt so that he could use Matt's organs to live longer.

The book takes you through Matt's life and how he grows. It shows what a clone might think and act like if one ever existed. The characters are written extremely well, so you find a variety of cast in there, which sparks for a lot of conflict, along with dislike for Matt because he's a clone, so he has to learn to cope with that. However, he does have a few friends who help him and want to save him in the book from his fate, which he does not know of until later on.

The book also has a lot of hints and other relations to events today, such as illegal immigrants and how people take advantage of them, represented in the book by 'eejits' which are basically humans-but-transformed-into-robots.

The book also sparks up a lot of debate, such as whether clones have souls or not, and whether they can be 'human' like us (or what makes a person so special and a person).

Overall, it is a very interesting book, and I think you'll enjoy it a lot once you get to reading it.

I hope that helps a bit.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8039868915373500809.post-2028897662757271782008-09-19T19:13:00.000-06:002008-09-19T19:13:00.000-06:00Thanks, anonymous-- that was a great comment you p...Thanks, anonymous-- that was a great comment you posted! His books are quite amazing, but it's been a while since I last read any of this books. I loved his On the Run series, and wanted to read the sequel, but haven't gotten a chance. He's really good at writing adventure and action. As for No More Dead Dogs, that was an amusing book too. I loved how he sets up the humor.

As for The House of Scorpions, no, it is not a series. However, it is a really good and thought-provoking book. However, on Nancy Farmer's website, it said that there will be a sequel to the book, since someone requested it.

Well, I hope this clears up some questions.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8039868915373500809.post-40101024593079435202008-09-17T13:03:00.000-06:002008-09-17T13:03:00.000-06:00Analie~I read No More Dead Dogs in a long time, bu...Analie~
I read No More Dead Dogs in a long time, but I do remember that I liked it. His visit will be during the school day--woohoo! And KIMI, I will keep you posted on any book clubs; the set of books I got of his were just checked out by Mr. Thibault for class use, so I'll come up with a plan B.

Take care, everyone, and have a great week!
:)
Mrs. PMrs. Phttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08088597309015881023noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8039868915373500809.post-74790710139193069172008-09-14T13:20:00.000-06:002008-09-14T13:20:00.000-06:00Hey Guys...I am excited about BRSINGR!!!!
